Charles De Clercq is Maître de Conférences in Sorbonne Paris Nord University. His research interests include the study of motives and upper motives of projective homogeneous varieties for reductive algebraic groups. With Mathieu Florence, he also introduced the notion of smooth profinite groups. He defended his Ph.D. thesis “Vers une classification des décompositions motiviques d’espaces homogènes”, as well as Habilitation à Diriger la Recherche “Motifs, traces de Tate et groupes profinis lisses” in Sorbonne University.
Charles De Clercq is at CAS upon the invitation of Dr. Andrei Lavrenov (CAS Researcher in Residence/LMU) during the winter semester 2025/26.
